But, what is inside the fabrics of a Miakoda item? Read more about the different materials below:
Organic Cotton, Bamboo & Soy
With organic cotton you avoid the chemical and pesticide laden toxic materials found in traditional cotton. The organic cotton is completely free of GMO seeds and toxic pesticides and the production does therefore not pollute the environment. Additionally, organic cotton requires much less water, which consequently leads to more sustainable water consumption in this kind of production.
Another sustainable material used is bamboo, which is not only incredibly soft, it is also a renewable resource. It grows like weed and moreover bamboo does not require pesticides and needs very little water. Furthermore, when you grow bamboo it improves the quality of the soil, and bamboo is actually a better CO2 extractor and O2 emitter than most trees.
The third eco-friendly material used in Miakoda’s production is soy. As soy production is immense, it happens unfortunately quite often that a whole ton of the soybean crop goes to waste. Luckily, instead of just throwing it to trash, we can collect the fiber and turn it into fabric. Hence, soy allows for upcycling - it goes from garbage to beautiful and soft basics!

Miakoda - Ethical Supply Chain
Miakoda has made sure strictly to source fabrics from top suppliers, who monitor their entire supply chains, standards and who also have international certifications. Additionally, they collaborate with a high quality NY-based manufacturer, that produce the final items. The brand personally visits the factory, in order to verify that it is continuously adherent to Miakoda’s manufacturing inspection guidelines. These guidelines follow the principles described by the Worldwide Responsible Apparel Production. Moreover, the inspections ensure that the factory is clean, safe, and has a respectful and healthy work environment. As a result, the factory has incredibly skilled workers, who receive regular training, are treated with respect: They are paid fairly including health insurance as well as sick and maternity leave benefit and there is, of course, no use of child labor.
Therefore, we can be sure of purchasing ethically sourced items, from manufacturers, who treat their workers with well!
