Recycled & Sustainable Bags
The Wayfarer Collection is a cool collection of bags made in UK. The brand behind this collection is sourcing 99 % of their materials locally. Hereby they avoid a long transportation around the globe, thus leaving a very low carbon footprint. Moreover, 95 % of the materials are recycled, which is impressingly high. The materials in these awesome bags come from ex-military materials such as waxed canvas from tents. And the best part is that they are designed to last a lifetime! The last remaining zip factory in the UK provides the zippers for these recycled bags.
Lendemain Organic has purchased this collection from the sustainable fashion brand, What Daisy Did. The company's mission is to tackle waste from every angle as well as simultanously creating beautiful, functional and affordable items. These recycled bags are a great step towards zero waste. We agree with What Daisy Did by advocating for slow fasion, and equally encourage consumers to be more conscious about what they buy.
With this collection, we ensure complete transparency of these high quality bags made from thick, durable and also highly water resistant materials. Find the full collection here.
Helping Homeless in the UK
The fact that the Wayfarer Collection is 99 % local sourcing has a great influence on the complexity of the supply chain. In order to avoid any degrading sweat-shop conditions, all production takes place in the UK. Moreover, the collection is produced in collaboration with the Northampton Hope Centre, which is a local homeless charity. By employing vulnerable and homeless people through a partnership, it is possible to give them a new start. The employees from the Northampton Hope Centre has the experienced machinist Dawn as their mentor, who has worked on sewing machines for 49 years altogether. Through this employment they can hopefully develop invaluable skills and experience they can use throughout their life.
